Skiing on Garda Lake? We’re not joking, it is true: the Mount Monte Baldo at the Garda Lake is a small but rewarding skiing area in winter and perfect for all those who want to enjoy skiing AND Mediterranean flair.
Much more people know the Monte Baldo as hike- and bike-area than as skiing resort. The Monte Baldo is great for doing these outdoor-sports. You get there taking the cable car from Malcesine. Arrived at the summit station you will be spoilt for choice: you can undertake easy or demanding excursions, or make some mountainbike tour. Very popular are the challenging downhill trails from the peak of Mount Monte Baldo down to the Garda Lake.
Whoever prefers adventurous sports can make a parachute-flight from Monte Baldo. The area is ideal for doing this extreme sport: there is a difference in height of about 2,000 m!
The Mount Monte Baldo is called "The Garden of Europe", because of the great heritage flora. Thanks to its very different morphological characteristics presents various climate zones, in particular the strip are Mediterranean (up to 700 m), the mountain range (from 700 m to 1500 m), the band Boreal (from 1500 m to 2000 m) and alpica the band (from 2000 m). Each of these bands has diverse vegetation.
