Water sports at Lake Garda

For those who love sports and action, the northern part of the lake is the place to go. This is just one big playground for the adventurous.

The steep valleys and wild rivers of Trentino are known for their great kayaking, swimming, surfing and sailing opportunities. Recently added sports are rafting, and for the very boldest, canyoning. These truly adventurous souls can be seen racing down ravines wearing wetsuits, helmets and life jackets, following their (hopefully professional) guides.

Windsurf at Lake Garda

The lake itself is great for scuba-diving. With a bit of luck (or a guide) you will discover sunken galleys dating from the time of the Venetian reign. Another underwater sight is the statue “Cristo Silente” near Riva, located 15 metres below the surface.

There is another statue near Brenzone, a 3-metre-high Madonna, which has been lowered into the lake only recently.
