Between the shores of Garda Lake and the surrounding mountains there are many castles and historic homes of incredible beauty and fascinating history!
Areas of Garda Lake are always permeated by the Mediterranean, Latin and Nordic – Germanic world.
Many nations and armies have passed here over the centuries and
castles are witnesses of these migrations.
Here we present some of the most famous castles:
Castello di
Arco Castle is one of the distinguishing features of the Garda Trentino, three-way lead up to the castle through olive groves. The castle was home of the Counts of Arco during the Middle Ages. From the castle you can admire a breathtaking panorama. Here you can visit the Great Tower, the Prison of Sasso and the Hall of Frescoes, where they are stored precious frescoes.

Torbole there are the ruins of Castel Penede Castle. The castle probably dates back to Roman times, was first mentioned in 1210. Today, the castle is an exceptional point of view over Garda Lake. In the forest below the castle, were found the remains of a huge wall. Through the cleaning of this structure have been found: Roman coins and ceramics.
- Castello di Drena Castle:
A rock houses the Castello di Drena Castle, over the road that connects Sarca with Valle di Cavedine valley. The tower of the castle has remained miraculously intact, despite the various attempts to destroy the fortress. Thanks to careful restoration it is now possible to visit the Ghibelline wall that encloses the remains of the palace, a small chapel and other buildings.
In
Sirmione you can find Castle of Sirmione (XIII century), with towers and crenellated walls, was the basis for strategic control of the lake. The Castle is built and is completely surrounded by water, represents a rare case of on a port.
