A typical Italian hotel with a beautiful view of the lake. Located directly above the busy main road. Access to the lakeside promenade is via a short walk along the road, followed by a brief downhill stroll. The town center is about a 15-20 minute walk along the lake. The rooms are small, with a small bathroom and a narrow shower. Everything is very clean, but a bit dated.
Breakfast is plentiful with a wide selection. Dinner consists of a good quality three-course meal with an appetizer buffet. The staff are very friendly.

A fine hotel directly on Lake Garda, just a few minutes from the promenade. The service is excellent, the four-course meals are always delicious, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The pool is relatively small, but sufficient for a few laps.

Outdoor Area & Reception
From the outside, the hotel makes a well-maintained impression, and the reception area also appears friendly and inviting. Unfortunately, this positive first impression was not entirely confirmed during the course of our stay.
Rooms
The rooms unfortunately did not meet our expectations for a 3-star hotel. The mattresses were noticeably worn, and some of the furnishings were dated or damaged. The strong-smelling carpet in one of the rooms was particularly bothersome, so we had to use air freshener ourselves. Overall, a renovation would be highly desirable to increase guest comfort.
Pool & Outdoor Area
The pool area also makes a rather uninviting impression. The pool itself could desperately use a bit more maintenance, and some of the loungers are unfortunately broken. This makes the area seem uninviting, even though it could actually be a nice place to relax.
Food & Service
On the other hand, the dinner and the staff deserve very positive mention. The food was good and varied every evening, and the staff were always friendly, attentive, and helpful – we really liked that.
Parking
There are ample outdoor parking spaces behind the hotel, and there's also an underground garage. While this is convenient, it's unfortunately quite narrow, making parking in and out a bit difficult with larger vehicles.
Conclusion
Overall, we had mixed impressions. The service and food are truly commendable, but the rooms and the complex in general are in dire need of renovation. Personally, we wouldn't recommend it, but the hotel could certainly improve a lot with some modernization.

A charming, typically Italian hotel, great location, good food with a choice of menu the day before, a fantastic breakfast with a changing selection of cold cuts, vegetables, bread and rolls, jams, yogurt and muesli, cakes and pastries, for example... The rooms are small but well-equipped with everything you need and very clean. The view of the lake is breathtaking. The pool and sunbathing lawn are very attractive and inviting. The team is consistently very friendly and welcoming, and the manager also has her heart in the right place. Thank you very much for your generous hospitality . All in all, I was completely satisfied with this wonderful three-star hotel. I hope to see you again.

My wife and I spent a week, in August 2025, at this lovely Hotel/location. We have nothing but wholehearted praise for the whole week's super experience.
The location is ideal, the Hotel is just perfect and the Management and staff were both immaculate and responsive at all times.
We would readily recommend the Half-board option too, as we experienced most delightful 4-course dinners daily. We are most likely to be visiting same location/Hotel again, at the next opportunity.

The owner herself takes great care of her guests!
Her husband even takes me to the parking lot where my tour bus is parked and picks me up there with his car after the trip and drives me back to the hotel.

Stayed here July 2025,Via Tui, beautiful well cared for hotel, very clean, lovely small pool and sunbeds, rooftop terrace available via lift on the 3rd floor, a hot tub spa tub on roof also which is a nice touch for a cool down, overall a lovely place to stay with lovely people running the hotel, the staff were very lovely, I would definitely return to this hotel, parking is available although I did not use as did not have a car

We were happy to return to the Hotel Cristallo, and once again, the experience was excellent. The atmosphere is refined and welcoming, and every corner of the property is impeccably clean. All the staff were kind, professional, and always available, with a special mention for the owner, Maria, who welcomed us with great warmth.
The cuisine is excellent, with authentic dishes and great attention to detail, even for those with special dietary needs related to food allergies.
Unfortunately, due to the short stay, we weren't able to try the new wellness center, but it will certainly be a good excuse to return soon.
The hotel's three-star rating is fully deserved, if not surpassed, for quality and service. It's an ideal place for families, couples, and anyone seeking relaxation and a warm welcome in the wonderful setting of Malcesine.

We have just arrived back from a very enjoyable 6 night stay at Hotel Cristallo which we booked through Expedia.
We needed to communicate through email as we had a couple of questions (gluten free availability etc) and the hotel responded very promptly answering all questions.
We stayed in a room on the side of the hotel (Room 219) and in the morning we were greeted with a lovely view to the left of Lake Garda and to the right a lovely view of the mountains (images attached). The room was spotlessly clean and cleaned every morning. The shower was a little small but worked perfectly and was immaculately clean.
The staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Every breakfast and dinner we were greeted with a warm welcome. The gluten free food was set aside from the rest and there was gluten free bread, cereals, crackers, biscuits and sponge cakes, along with its own toaster. In the main area there was plenty of meats, fruits, drinks and everything you would expect from a continental breakfast.
Outside the hotel is a very short walk to bus stops in both directions, although they are not very punctual and when they do arrive they are very busy. It is also a short 15 minute walk into town and there are two ways of walking. One along the lake side which is accessed by steps or a slope or you can walk along the road which is quite level. Also a short walk to the EuroSpar if you would like to buy any snacks (fridge available in your room).
Malcesine is a beautiful town and this hotel is very well situated.
If we decide to revisit Lake Garda we will stay there again and would recommend it to any of our friends or family.

A nice hotel in itself, with everything you need and expect from a hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. However, the hotel could use some TLC. There's flaking paint everywhere, and there are scratches and small stains on the walls in the room itself. Unfortunately, it's also very dusty in places. It's located right on the main road, so those sensitive to noise should be aware of that. It didn't bother us. Overall, we were satisfied and would book the hotel again.

A little tip on a gluten-free trip - and without any ulterior motives - simply because I find it almost impossible to travel specifically to Italy. (I can't tolerate any grain products - wheat allergy)
This hotel on Lake Garda, Hotel Cristallo - which I booked through a Danish travel agency, runs a concept of breakfast and dinner, where dinner is four courses. You choose every day which dishes you want to eat the next day - and the best thing is that they are incredibly good at coming up with the most delicious grain-free dishes and are very careful about it! It feels heavenly to eat every evening with security together with other people and feel that you are eating at least as well!
In addition, the rooms and other areas are very clean and neat. The swimming pool is not very large but well-functioning. The beach can be found after a walk down, but it is a super nice walk. The beach is quite small and rocky but super nice.
Service is in both German and English and the staff is very friendly. I am surprised that this hotel has so many bad reviews.

Clean and comfortable hotel with excellent staff and facilities. The bar has a balcony which over looks the lake and a very comfortable lounge. Once you cross the not too busy road there is easy access to the lakeside esplanade with a gentle walk to the town passing pleasant bars and restaurants along the way. I spent a week at the Hotel Cristallo with my mother. We found and booked the hotel through Check24. The hotel is located right on the main road around the lake. There's a free gravel parking lot at the rear of the hotel, as well as a paid underground parking garage for €8 per day. The ambiance of the hotel is fantastic! A lot of thought has gone into the decor, including pictures and decorations. The bar has a number of very comfortable armchairs and couches, as well as regular seating areas.
The staff are always friendly and accommodating. I particularly like the fact that all guests are addressed in their native language! On the one hand, this allows for smooth communication, and you feel motivated to speak Italian yourself, as the others are also accommodating. The service is excellent, especially noticeable at breakfast and dinner. Everyone knows what they're doing, waiting times are short, and everything runs like clockwork! Impressive! We had half board. The selection at the breakfast buffet is good! At first, I was surprised that they only serve scrambled eggs on Sundays, as other hotels often have an abundance of everything. Here, the selection is limited, but there was nothing lacking! I think that's a great way to combat food waste! Dinner was always excellent! It's not Michelin-starred cuisine, but the three courses with an extra salad buffet offer a suitable selection every day, from meat to fish to vegetarian. The taste is always top-notch! Only the many containers for the portioned oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper could be replaced with bottles and shakers. The rooms are always clean and are up to the hotel's star rating. We had rooms with a balcony and a lake view, great!
There's a fitness room that offers everything you need to work out on a rainy day and also seems to be rarely used. We didn't use the wellness area with a whirlpool.
One downside is the €9.80 fee for using the in-room safe.
The "La Rocca A and B" bus stops are 20 meters away, providing access to the entire eastern shore of the lake. Access to the lake promenade is somewhat hidden, via a staircase at the neighboring hotel.
The center of Malcesine is a 15-minute walk away. The nearest supermarket is also 15 minutes away.

Delicious breakfast with coffee, cold cuts, cheese, fruit, juices, bread, rolls, toast, muesli, jam, eggs, pastries... We didn't book dinner. Large breakfast/dining room. The ambiance is a bit dated but well-maintained and clean. The pool was also clean. Elevator available. About a 15-minute walk to the town center. Bus stop about 4 minutes away. A short side street leads directly down to the lake shore, from where you can walk towards the old town. We would gladly return!

The hotel is quite dated. The rooms are quite small, the beds quite narrow, but very clean. There's a kettle - but no tea or coffee... The safe costs extra.
The bathroom, and especially the shower cubicle, are very, very cramped - overweight people won't be able to fit all their bodies in it at once.
The hotel offers a beautiful lake view and is located quite close to the town center. Other reviews criticize the traffic noise - that's just what you get when you book accommodation near the lake on the eastern shore.
Breakfast is simple but OK.
Dinner - okay - we only had it once.
The hotel could make some things nicer and better with modest investments. For example, the design of the dining room is very kitsch - anyway - why is anyone eating in the back area overlooking the parking lot while no one is sitting in the front area by the lounge with a lake view?
New tableware would certainly be appropriate. And I find it absolutely incomprehensible that in Italy, oil and vinegar are served in sachets like at McDonald's instead of simply placing bottles on the table.
In conclusion, we had a good time - you shouldn't expect too much from the hotel.

The hotel is about a kilometer from the center of Malcesine, but it's easily accessible from the lakefront, which has access near the hotel. The functional rooms open onto a large terrace or small balconies overlooking the lake, while others overlook Monte Baldo. The bathrooms, while spotlessly clean, are a bit small. The owner and staff are very kind and helpful. Dinner is also available, with a menu offering a couple of first and second course options. Breakfast offers a wide selection.

I'm happy to give this hotel five stars. It has a great location and is ideal for excursions to Verona, Garda, and of course, Limone.
A trip up Monte Baldo is practically a must when the weather is nice, so you can see the surrounding area from above.
Regarding the hotel again, we were very satisfied with everything, even though the shower cubicle was a bit small, but it was adequate for showering. The food was typical for the Lake Garda region, plus a very generous salad buffet. There was plenty to eat for everyone, and even small special requests were promptly fulfilled.
Our trip was shortly after Easter, so the weather was a bit changeable, but okay.
We're planning another Lake Garda vacation in the fall, so there's nothing to complain about here—everything was great.

The hotel is OK so far; we were there for 14 days at the end of August/September. The room was small, the bathroom and shower very small, and there was no storage space. We had a room facing the mountain. The doors could only be closed with a lot of noise, which made it very noisy. Food was served at 7 p.m. and ready at around 8:30 p.m. It took a long time for all the courses to be served. The taste was very good, though, and the staff were very friendly. The air conditioning stopped working in September as it was still so warm that the room was like a small sauna. You need to be a good walker to the lake shore; the 300m along the road is not without danger, and then there is either a steep downhill slope or a path with steps. It's not nice walking into Malcesine in the dark at night.

We had two double rooms facing the mountain without a balcony, which wasn't a disadvantage at all! You're only in the rooms to sleep, shower, etc. For overweight people like us, the bathroom is very small, but that's not the hotel's problem! Everything is very clean and tidy, the staff always has a smile on their faces, and you can feel the feminine touch in every room (bar, lobby, hallways). The electrical system is modern, with cards for opening the doors that also control the power supply (energy-saving), and a USB port in every room! The food was always delicious, and my vegetarian daughter's special requests were specially cooked. Drinks are an additional charge, but €2.50 for an iced tea or a can of soda is very reasonable. The restaurant costs €4. We'll definitely be back.

A really lovely small hotel with the sweetest and most helpful staff. The place is in a beautiful older condition and everything is looked after and maintained.
You can tell that everyone at the hotel is passionate about the place and takes ownership.
The location of the place is really good with the most beautiful view you can imagine. 3 min walk to the lake and 15 min to Malcesine along the lakeshore.
The rooms (we had a change and therefore tried 2) are really nice and there is nothing missing for a 3 star hotel.
The food is honest, varied and well prepared. The breakfast is quite nice and you don't miss anything. The prices of drinks are extremely acceptable.
Don't expect a 5 star hotel, because that's not what it is, but we have never stayed in such a lovely 3 star hotel ️

Die Chefin mit Familie sind sehr freundlich und das Personal zuvorkommend, total nett und höflich.
Alles ist sehr sauber und das Essen und die Getränke sind sehr lecker.
Das Hotel liegt direkt am See und ist nur wenige Gehminuten vom Ort Malcesine entfernt.
Der Pool lädt zum entspannen ein und den Whirlpool auf der Dachterrasse kann man mit einem atemberaubenden Blick auf den Gardasee geniessen.
Für die Autos gibt es eine Tiefgarage und einen großen Parkplatz hinter dem Haus.
Es waren wunderbare Tage in Italien und im Hotel Cristallo und wir kommen sehr gerne wieder

Excellent location, priceless view, and magnificent solarium with hot tub.
The dinner and breakfast staff are friendly and extremely helpful.
From the wide-angle photos, the pool looks very large, but in reality it's quite small. However, the lake, which is actually right in front of the hotel across the street, makes up for it.
Be careful with the internal parking spaces; they're a bit limited and risky for opening luggage racks, as the ceiling is very low.

Great hotel with friendly staff, a fantastic location (2 minutes to the lake/10 minutes to town), and a very good breakfast. COVID-19 regulations are strictly enforced, and cleanliness is a top priority!
Overall, excellent value for money and highly recommended for both active holidays and relaxing getaways – I'd gladly stay again!

We returned from Malchesine yesterday. It was a successful vacation. We felt at home in the hotel from the very first minute. Despite the road, it has a very good location near the beach, separated by 77 steps – keeps you fit. A great bar awaited us at the end, as did the beautiful beach promenade. The view from our room of beautiful Lake Garda and from the beach to the town – simply fantastic. The hotel staff were always friendly and cheerful. We received good service. Maria gave us good advice for the trip to Monte Baldo. The hotel always sparkled. The road didn't bother us either. The windows are well-insulated and the air conditioning wasn't loud. Sometimes we even slept with the window open, which was okay. The food was always delicious, and we were full. Once, however, we went into town for dinner because of the lovely restaurants and their atmosphere. Breakfast could have been a bit more varied after 3 days. The raw ham was often served later, when we were already finished. A different kind of jam would have been nice, too, and we only had buns with the scrambled eggs once. The concierge could have said hello. However, the other staff were super friendly. The hotel exceeded our expectations! We highly recommend it! The town was also within easy walking distance. You can also rent bikes.

Super freundlicher Empfang (Dank an Asia). Sehr gute Unterstützung bei der Buchung sowohl per Telefon als auch per eMail. Beim Frühstück total nette Bedienungen. Die Auswahl ist sehr gut mit Brot, Toas, Brötchen, Marmelade (abgepackt), Schinken, Salami, Ei, Spiegelei, Rührei, kleine Pan-Cakes, Saft, Wasser, Kaffee-Spezialitäten...Frühstück auf der Terasse war auch klasse mit Blick über den See. Es war alles sehr sauber und angenehm. Wir hatten einen Tiefgaragenplatz inklusive, was wegen der Hitze natürlich super ist. Von dort direkt auf die entsprechende Etage mit den Koffern war auch kein Problem. Das Hotel beherbergt wohl eher Durchreise-Gäste aber das ist nur eine Vermutung. Wir waren 3 Nächte und es war wirklich wunderschön. Der Weg in die Stadt ist ca. 15 Minuten am Ufer des Sees entlang. Das Hotel liegt direkt an der gut befahrenen Via Gardesana und ist natürlich etwas laut...

The hotel is a bit dated but extremely comfortable, with impeccable cleanliness. The staff is always courteous and helpful, ready to accommodate guests' needs.
The breakfast is excellent and plentiful, with a wide selection.
The dinner is excellent, with a varied menu. Ample free private outdoor parking is available, as is a paid garage.
The town center is a 10-minute walk from the lakeside.
You can purchase tickets for the ferry to Limone at the hotel.

I found this hotel by chance, having never stayed in Malcesine before. I chose it because, from the moment I spoke to the owner on the phone, I was struck by her friendliness and warmth.
The hotel is completely renovated, has parking, and the cleanliness of both the rooms and the entire property is impeccable.
It has a swimming pool and hot tub. The room overlooks the lake, has a terrace, and offers a spectacular view. I particularly appreciated the quietness of the room and the comfort of the bed.
Excellent meals: the breakfast buffet was served by the staff, with delicious pastries and hot drinks directly from the bar, not from the vending machines. Dinner was truly excellent, compliments to the kitchen staff.
Special note: I would like to highlight the kindness and courtesy of all the staff, whom I sincerely thank for contributing with their smiles and willingness to add another positive touch to our holiday.
I will definitely be back.

The staff is very friendly and attentive. The room on the second floor had a balcony with a direct lake view – beautiful. The room was a bit small, but the cleanliness was impeccable. The bathroom, however, was far too small; the shower was approximately 70 x 70 cm, which is far too little. Otherwise, the price was reasonable.

One of the many local hotels, clean and welcoming, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Dinner, included in the daily package, is served in the dining room overlooking the lake by the pool. The windows are well-maintained, keeping out noise despite the traffic on the street. Every room is air-conditioned, and the atmosphere is clean. Affordable, the pool is small but well-maintained, and there are lounge chairs and umbrellas. A recommended place for spending peaceful days on Lake Garda.

We arrived with two adults and one child. Our spontaneous rebooking to this hotel worked out perfectly. When we arrived, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. A bit small considering the mountain view, but still adequate, comfortable, and well-maintained. The shower, however, was really small. That brought a few chuckles in the morning...
The service staff was great! Very attentive, always smiling (which you could see despite wearing face masks), and super helpful. The coffee and small water in the morning were especially good. Thank you Lukas and Gabriella! The food selection was always fresh and beautifully presented. The evening meal was a dream. There were various local dishes that weren't even offered in the restaurants outside. Kudos to the chef!
Our daughter also felt very comfortable. The pool was very clean, and she enjoyed using it extensively in the evenings.
Any questions that arose were thoroughly investigated by the manager. She made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you, Maria!
We'll be back and look forward to seeing everyone again! :-)

Breathtaking views, extremely friendly staff, and excellent food. It feels right at home. Strategic location, a 10-minute walk from the center (along the lake). The lake-view pool isn't very large, but it's never crowded! Highly recommended!

Beautiful and well-kept hotel, nice and clean room with a breathtaking view...very courteous and professional reception and dining staff, lovely pool, lovely solarium, and lovely terrace with hot tub.
The lake is just a short walk away, and a 10-minute walk along the lakeside promenade takes you to the center.
I highly recommend it...we'll definitely return.

We spent 7 days with half board and our child, and were well looked after.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
They spoke Italian, English, and German.
The hotel was very clean, with rooms with single and double beds and a wonderful lake view.
Air conditioning, a refrigerator, and a TV were available.
Very nice breakfast, with a fresh selection every day. We could choose our dinner each morning for the evening.
The pool was very clean and equipped with loungers, tables, and umbrellas.
The bathroom was great, but the shower was a bit too small.
Breakfast and dinner were delicious.
5 minutes to the lake and about a 10-minute walk to the town center.
Despite the coronavirus, we didn't regret it!!!

It's definitely worth a return visit with more time to spare... the staff's professionalism makes you feel at ease, just as you'd hope when you arrive for a few days of rest and relaxation... the reception staff communicates clearly... the hotel's underground garage is available... it's very close to the cable car to Monte Baldo... the meals are excellent, and I'd like to take this opportunity to compliment the kitchen staff... the breakfast buffet is plentiful in both quantity and quality... and finally, the cleanliness is impeccable... My husband and myself have just returned from our stay at the Cristallo. We booked with Rivera Travel. It was to celebrate my 60th Birthday, and our 37th wedding Anniversary.
We had a very enjoyable stay, the hotel was spotless, food was very good, staff were lovely, rooms were clean, no complaints at all.
Excellent views across the lake and a short pleasant walk into Malcesine itself with plenty of nice shops, bars and restraunts, and more spectacular veiws.

We spent the weekend at the Hotel Cristallo in Malcesine! We were absolutely satisfied. The room was nice and clean with a balcony, the crib was super comfortable for our little one, the breakfast was adequate for a 3-star hotel, the pool with a well-kept garden, and, most importantly, the staff were incredibly friendly. In fact, we were able to check out late and enjoy the pool until the afternoon. We had a wonderful weekend! Two small flaws: unfortunately, the main road is very busy and noisy, especially if you're relaxing by the pool, and the food, on the night we ate, wasn't entirely to our liking! Thank you so much!!!

The rooms, shower, and pool area are small, but well-maintained and, like everything else in the hotel, spotlessly clean! The cleanest hotel I've ever seen in this price range!

The rooms with lake or mountain views are relatively small, and the furnishings are average, but very clean.
The food is good, and the dining room is spacious and comfortably furnished. All the staff are very friendly. The gardens are well-maintained and clean, and the pool is quite small but fine. There is a large roof terrace with a view of the lake, as well as an elevator that provides access to all floors, including the basement with an underground parking garage. Alternatively, you can park your car in a large parking lot behind the hotel.

A clean, if basic, hotel with a small pool and a 15 minute walk into the centre of Malcesine. The food is good, if a little limited. It's worth paying extra for a room with a balcony, otherwise you might end up with a room with a view of a wall. The showers are very small.

Highly satisfied
The hotel is very centrally located. You can reach the lake in 3 minutes. The view of the lake is beautiful. In the evenings, you can sit on the terrace and enjoy Lake Garda.
The room and bathroom are very clean for a 3-star hotel. I know 4-star hotels in various European countries that aren't as clean. Every day, the room and bathroom are cleaned, and the towels are replaced with fresh ones. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is very good for a 3-star hotel. They offer a 4-course menu and a fairly varied cold appetizer buffet. My wife is a vegetarian. Before the trip, she had stomach problems. These were unnecessary. Every evening, she received vegetarian food prepared especially for her. She could even make suggestions. Everything was prepared for her. Breakfast is just as good. We were extremely satisfied. If I travel to Malcesine again, I will gladly stay at this hotel.
