Cable cars at Lake Garda
One of the most beautiful views of the sparkling blue waters of Lake Garda is from the cable car that leads from Malcesine to Monte Baldo. It has existed since 1955 but was rebuilt and modernised at the beginning of the 21st century, so that today it has a futuristic design and high performance.
The gondolas, as well as the stations, are made of glass and steel. The cable car is used mainly by hikers who want to explore the Monte Baldo on foot and mountain bikers who use the gravel roads for downhill driving. Hang gliders and paragliders also take advantage of this convenient ascent to jump off the mountain high above the Lake.
At the valley station of the Malcesine cable car, there is a large parking lot for vehicles. The journey is also possible by bus, or there is an elevator for people with disabilities.
The cable car ride is in two sections: First, it goes over a distance of 1,512 m over 463 m high from Malcesine to S. Michele, then from there a stretch of 2,813 m and 1,187 m high on Monte Baldo. The fun feature of the second stage is that the cabin revolves around itself during the journey and provides unique 360-degree views.
