Ferries and ships on Lake Garda
The roads around Lake Garda are sometimes hectic, they can be narrow and winding and pass through many towns. In the high season, the traffic is dense often creating long traffic jams. Sometimes it makes sense to use the ferry instead of your car.
If you want to tackle the trip quickly yet calmly and enjoy the view of the Lake Garda area, use the large boats that leave every hour every day from Toscolano-Maderno in the west to Torri del Benaco in the east. Other car ferries are available from Limone to Malcesine and in the high season also from Riva to Desenzano. The ferries usually have space for up to 35 cars and 300 people, and most have bars and restaurants.
The ships sail several times a day from Peschiera del Garda to Garda, from Salò to Gargnano, from Riva to Malcesine and from Desenzano to Manerba del Garda and back again. Information is available directly at the harbour.
